Layered Wood Art Process

How does a piece of layered wood art literally and figuratively come together? Check out what goes into designing, constructing and creating each unique piece of art.

Step 1: Discussion

I work closely with the client to design the piece, taking into account both the details and the broader vision for the art.

Step 2: Design

I make a digital design mock-up of the piece to give the client a visual approximation of what the art will look like in its final form.

Step 3: Cutting

Using laser cutter machinery, I cut each layer of the piece from high quality wood veneer, and etch any details needed to make the art come to life.

Step 4: Layering and Construction

I sand, stain, and oil each layer, and then stack them all and bind them together to craft the piece to perfectly fit the vision we discussed.
